It’s been a long time coming. Los Angeles finally has an epic-scale event for fans and creators of electronic music. Synthplex founders Michael Learmouth and MIchael Boddicker got together to establish this annual event, which takes place in Burbank from March 28th to the the 31st. It’s at the LA Marriott Burbank Hotel and Convention Center.
In addition to live performances by a variety of established and up and coming electronic music artists (too numerous to mention, but see the roster, which includes Thomas Dolby and Mark Isham, here) there will be a Pop Up Synth Museum (which offers hands-on use of tons of vintage Moog Modulars and other classic analog synths, with proceeds to benefit The Children’s Music Fund) Visitors can sample the wares of dozens of leading electronic music manufacturers and distributors, from makers of software and hardware, to retailers and more (list here). I first heard about the event from a Facebook post by my high school chum, the multi talented Matt Patterson, who heads up Walkabout Carriers, who will also be exhibiting with his innovative brand of accessories for use by marching bands, drum lines, and keyboardists.
So, sorry Moogfest — it looks like you have some serious competition in this first annual event! I’m super excited about it and I hope to see you there!
