Margot Day draws on her experiences as a goth rocker and her training in healing disciplines to bring light to the world. Her new single with Metamorph inspires us to imagine a better future.
Of the song, “Dream Curve,” Day told me: “The lyrics are channeled from the ether, nature, collective consciousness, and the gods and goddesses…probably the lyrics will touch people in different ways. For me, I am singing about being a ‘dream keeper’ and a ‘dream weaver,’ taking the strands of the pain and misery that are in the world and reforming and weaving into a new, multi-colored tapestry of love and hope.” The new single is wonderfully produced by Erik Gustafson, of Adoration Destroyed and Eva X.
Given that Day is a practicing witch, I asked about the differences between white and black magic, and if she employs either. “I am a Reiki master, a yoga teacher, and a Witch healer,” she writes. “ I don’t think of the energy I see and conjure as ‘white magic’ or ‘black magic.’ Light and dark are intertwined. Is the ocean white or black magic? I believe in the law of Karma so to use my powers to cause harm would be counterproductive and just wrong for me and my path.”
Far unlike Hollywood depictions of witches, or the stereotypes of those who fear what they don’t understand, Day uses her songs to bring light to the world. With her dramatic soprano voice, enchanting stage presence, and marvelous flute solo, Day’s music with Metamorph is an illuminating force for good. “I utilize music to heal and awaken,” she told me.
The new EP by Metamorph, Kiss Of The Witch, is coming this year.
