Presenting “Turntable,” featuring hot new electronic music. This first offering leans towards darker themes, which says something about the state of indie electronic music.
Josie Pace “I’m Begging You”
The catchy beats remind me of Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails, but Josie’s charisma is something all her own. The desperation of the lyrics comes across in the passionate vocals, while the synth beats of Pace and Ken Roberts create a simmering ambience. It’s from her recent album IVOX10V5, which has all of the sci-fi futurism of the title. Pace just announced a North American tour. Check her out!

Dispel “Flames Of Greed”
From the first haunting electronic notes of “Flames Of Greed” by Dispel, the tone is set for this darkly appealing tune. It’s a kind of agitprop, compelling us to do better than the status quo, in which money is glorified and many starve. Led by Ravensea, this Cleveland-based electro goth band will release their conceptual full length LP Inferno on October 12. With synthesizer beats riffing on the sins that land one in hell, as depicted by Dante, the album is filled with gothic pop gems featuring mythic themes. Scott Dispel plays keyboards and bangs drums, while Sean Gallows contributes bass and vocals.

NØISE x Ree-Vo “Automatic”
This offshoot from Ree-Vo’s perfect debut album All Welcome On Planet Ree-Vo, “Automatic” is a hip hop treasure featuring cool rapping by T. Relly and vocals by Meritt Lear, trippy beats, and dub bass. Listening to this on a cool autumn day with a cup of pumpkin spice whiskey is a moment of perfection. The video is by Andy Spaceland of Ree-Vo.

Collide “Are You Better Now”
The electronic instruments and beats on this lovely and catchy single are distorted beyond recognition, though the overall sound is gorgeously aesthetic. It’s from Collide’s album Notes From The Universe, that just came to my attention. Better late than never. Karin’s vocals carry the passion of the song, with punk guitars and driving bass and drums. It’s a little bit darkwave, a little bit Bowie, and all kinds of awesome. Collide are from Southern California.

Curse Mackey “Lacerations”
This dark single from the new album Immoral Emporium is everything fans of electro goth and darkwave could desire. Passionate vocals and darkly melodic synth beats, and haunting lyrics make this a song for the dance floor of Bar Sinister in Hollywood California. Curse is the guy’s name – he’s all in. The album is produced by Chase Dobson, and features work by Justin McGrath on synths. It’s mastered by Ken Marshall who has worked on music by Skinny Puppy. Curse Mackey will be touring around California and the Southwest this fall. Check him out!
