Welsh hitmaker Donna Lewis is back after battling cancer, with a new song, ‘The Imposter,’ that puts gratitude in the spotlight. Lewis broke onto the pop scene with her impossibly catchy 1996 hit single “I Love You Always Forever,” a hit on VH1 and lots of music charts.
Since that success, which was earned after years of playing in UK clubs, Lewis continued releasing albums, with synths at keyboards at the center of many of these brilliant sounds, and poetic lyrics revealing more depth than an earworm might suggest. In 2021, Lewis was set to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her classic single, when she got the news no one wants to hear. After a one year struggle fighting breast cancer, Lewis returned to making music, this time with a new collaborator – electronic musician Holmes Ives.
“The Imposter” tells of the tragedy of a cancer diagnosis, the discomfort of treatment, and her recovery. At the heart of the tune is a message of the importance of gratitude and mindfulness to recovery. Musically, the tune is downtempo but uplifting, and lyrically a testament to the power of perseverance, exploring the pain of treatment but also the spiritual aspects of healing.

Drawing from her poetry journals in collaboration with Ives, songs from a forthcoming album were created, of which “The Imposter” is the first single. The album will be titled Rooms With A View. Congrats to Ms. Lewis her continued health, the cool new single and forthcoming album.
