Hollywood’s electronic new wave band Sacred Skin just released a video single for ‘Waiting,’ a new track from their upcoming album Born In Fire.

Since launching in 2021 with the name Second Skin, the team of Brian Tarney (guitar, synth, and vocals) and Brian DaMert (vocals, guitar) have established themselves as an authentic sounding synth band leaning into 80s revival with outstanding songwriting and production.  The video for “Waiting” is a stylistic gem, with an 80s noir aesthetic and a haunting vibe featuring Hollywood clubs, with characters resembling ghosts from some forgotten play.

“Waiting” is directed by Jane Slater, with Adrian Stucker as director of photography, while Jenna Haze portrays the mysterious, silent object of DaMert’s longing. There’s plenty of hazy, colorful lighting and black leather worn by almost everyone until the party moves to the hills where a diabolical pyre threatens to consume them all.

DaMert’s baritone voice carries a dark passion that will be familiar to fans of goth and new wave. Musically Sacred Skin have dialed in a driving, commercial sound with lyrics about lost love, brokenness, and desire. In our 2021 interview, Tarney explained that vintage analog synths are at the heart of the band’s sound.

After changing their name from Second Skin to Sacred Skin a couple years ago, Vanessa Rae Robinson stayed aboard on bass guitar and synths, with new drummer Delano Duran Hillard replacing AJ English.  Born In Fire will release on September 13, 2024. The debut album by Sacred Skin, The Decline Of Pleasure, was released in 2022.
