There’s a wonderful new electronic trio in town. SilverScene features Marie Williamson (Agency V, Numana State, AfterDark) on vocals, joining Adam Collier (BlakLight, Beautiful Crisis) and Brian Belknap (BlakLight, Mind Machine).

Silverscene’s debut single, “Heart” is a promising tease of what the upcoming album will be about. It’s a slightly downbeat arpeggio-driven tune, carried not only by the beat, but by Williamson’s sweet soprano. Thematically ambiguous in the verses, when Belknap joins her in the choruses where love is affirmed, the song proves to be ultimately uplifting.

I chatted with Adam Collier for a bit.

Synthbeat: There’s a somewhat lighter sound and sentiment compared to Blaklight. Is this deliberate and continued on the upcoming album?
Adam Collier: Yes. I had finished the music for BlakLight’s new album, The Haunting of Us, and continued writing for songs that could be considered for my other project, Beautiful Crisis. These songs quickly turned from 2 to 8 and  into a new project that became SilverScene.

Synthbeat: Marie’s lyrics are still somewhat in the Blaklight style. How did you meet and how are your influences similar? Her voice is lovely btw.
Adam Collier: I first heard about Marie from her other project, Agency V. I had a song that I thought would fit her vocal. I sent it to her through Facebook and she was interested. What she sent back was great. This song will be on the album and is called, “Dark Skies.” I was also thinking at the time that Brian’s voice would compliment Marie’s and we became a trio. All three of us are fans of darker electronic, goth, and alternative music. Although the music is a bit lighter, darker themes run throughout.

Synthbeat: I too have reconnected with my DAW’s arpeggiator. Adam, what device are you using for that?
Adam Collier: I am loyal user of Logic as my DAW. For this album I use, Alchemy, Ana 2, Thorn, and a few others VSTs.

Synthbeat: Do you foresee a double bill, or triple with Beautiful Crisis, for live shows?
Adam Collier: I don’t think so. So far the other vocalists are in Canada and England. I don’t foresee all of us being in the same place at the same time. But, you never know.
