Since their inception during the pandemic, with the superlative full length debut Music In A Time Of Uncertainty and numerous follow up releases, Southern California-based electronic act BlakLight have presented zero professional videos, aside from some basic graphic videos on YouTube and occasional cell phone footage on Facebook. In the past year or so, the original duo of Brian Belknap on vocals and Adam Collier on synths and beats have added Omar Quiñones as a third member on synths and background vocals, to join them on recent studio work and at live shows.

And now, finally, BlakLight have released a powerful, brilliantly executed performance video of “Redefine,” a tune from their 2023 mostly instrumental album tHE pADDED rOOM. The video features gorgeously strategic lighting and captures the dynamic passion in a synthesis of flesh and blood emotion and digital synthesis convening in a live setting. Suddenly, by showcasing their live work with proper technical presentation, BlakLight have joined some of my other favorite aggressively dark electro acts, including Karmakoma and KONTRADIKSHN in documenting sophisticated electronic music sounds from a live setting.

The video for “Redefine” was skillfully recorded and edited by Suede Flores.
